I forgot today was “Take Your Kid to Work Day”. Mainly because mine is too young still.

I ran a Take Your Kid to Work Day for a small division of Ford 3 years ago. Which means today marks the 3 year anniversary that as a thank you for running the Event the Director of that Ford Division tossed me the keys to a Manual Diesel one of these to take out for lunch:

I’m in the US so these aren’t available to us. The above looks just like the one I drove, but mine was LHD.

Yes, it was as awesome as you think it would be. Occasionally there were some really kickass perks in that job.

A couple non boring pics of the P375 Global (ish) Ranger:

“Bring you kid to work day isn’t as popular as it used to be at Good Vibes strip club.”

Yeah I’ve been obsessed with this truck since I saw it before the reveal (I worked on it’s launch) and I’ve been yelling “BRING IT HERE” for years. Was so awesome they tossed me the keys and said “go ahead take it to lunch”

Cross your fingers the the Colorado/Canyon does well. I think the only hope of Ford ever bringing back the Ranger, is if GM proves to be right.

I think you’re right. They’ll have to act fast though because I plan on buying a Canyon or Colorado in about 3 years. They’ll lose this buyer by waiting.

I really dig the Colorado. The upcoming diesel is very intriguing as well.

only problem with the Ranger diesel is , if you let the oil drain for too long you’ll have trouble restarting it.

Umm. You aren’t really supposed to start engines without oil anyhow...

I’m not really a big Diesel person, part of that is that Diesel fuel is expensive in Michigan. Typically about 75 cents or more a gallon vs Regular gas.

The theory of it bothers me, despite knowing that diesel is obviously completely functional. (let’s just heat up the block until shit blows up, don’t worry about the ease of a spark plug - just heat it up, it’ll be fine)

true!

but if you let them Ranger / BT50 twins oil drain for longer than 10 minutes , then refill it won’t start.

The theory doesn’t bother me, as it’s proven tech. The fuel cost, as well as extra purchase price are issues for me. It depends a lot on how you use it as to whether or not it’d be worth it.

So, I’m intrigued by it, but that’s as far as I’ll go right now :)

That’s weird.

I’m not a big diesel fan anyhow, it’s just the polar opposite of what is available in the US right now.

Diesel Manual Medium sized pickup does not really exist until they release a diesel Colorado and I don’t know if that one get’s manual.

Despite how proven it is (obviously it’s solid tech) it’s just insane to me.

But yea, higher purchase price + higher fuel + higher maintenance cost = big barrier of entry.

Yeah, you really need to be towing a lot, or at high altitudes, and putting on a lot of highway miles to make the diesel pay off.
